Default Information monitor readings

My 98' avenger es has the 2.5L v6. The Power Control Module keeps losing it's stored information monitor readings. What could possibly cause that to happen?

do you have any codes. what kind of info is it loosing where are you reading the info

There should be a constant 12v source to maintain the info ,or the memory is failing
