I have thought for awhile that my tranny was starting to fail. I noticed some slipping in 3rd and 4th. I did some research and found that the a604/41te has converter lock in 3rd and 4th. The converter releases and locks in those gears depending on how much throttle you apply. I thought that this might help someone who thinks their tranny is failing.
