So I came home today driving my 98 Avenger 2.5 automatic. I went around the corner to my house and there was a loud pop and suddenly lost alot of power and was hard to steer. I thought it was a flat tire but after pulling into my driveway, the tires are fine. The passenger side feels like the steering is nearly none existent. This sounds like a busted joint in the axle to me. Any other ideas? Is the process for changing an axle pretty much the same as any other car or are there certain procedures for this specific car? Is there anything else I should check when I go out to look at it?

 

Pull the wheel off and have a look. Report back.
