Help me please
I have a 97 Dodge Avenger. My problem is when I try starting up my car in the morning it will struggle starting up then it'll make a clicking noise and not start up at all. I don't know what the problem is. Is it the alternator, battery, starter, if anybody has any input on what it may be and how to fix this problem don't be shy to answer. Well, thank you in advance for your time.
Well first thing you should do is test your battery. Take it to an autozone or somewhere and they usually test them for free. Or if you have a battery charger you can test it yourself. Usually you will get a clicking noise if its your battery. If the battery is fine then the next thing I would check is the starter and solenoid. They are basically one piece but each do a different thing. Its kind of hard to check. You can take it out and take it to autozone like the battery. They should be able to test it, well they do here. THe starter/solenoid is located above your exhaust. If you have ever changed your oil you have seen it before. Well you have atleast seen the heat shield covering the starter. A Haynes manual can help with the taking out but its really simple actually. Just drop the exhaust cause basically there is no other way to get it out. After dropping the exhaust you just have to disconnect the two cables attached to the starter. Of course disconnect the battery before doing anyhting. Any of other problems just ask.
