I keep hearing from different people that it is not good to put non-synthetic oil in your car after using synthetic oil because it creates a ticking sound in your engine.

Is that true?

The lifters don't tick because of poor oil issue alone, they can tick because they are old/ literally out of shape too. Oil just covers up that issue. Syn lubricates better than non-syn by way of sticking/staying on components that it has been on, at least that's what I have noticed, especially good for cold starts. Look at a car that has non-syn and look another with syn. Open the oil cap and look at the lifters on both, rub your fingers on both of the car's lifters and you tell us. Another thing, I've always been told to stick with syn if you've already switched...why would you want to go back to non-syn anyway? Stop listening to these folks that don't give you any kind of "meat" to their theories.
BTW, this syn/non-syn thing has been debated for years and I don't think there is a definite answer...only opinions. Come on...bottom line, oil is oil.
