Default Annoying Remote Entry

Sometimes when I unlock my doors on my 99' Avenger ES they unlock and then lock right away. This makes it so its almost impossible to get into the car. I changed the batteries in the remote but it continues to do it. This is something that only occurs every once in a while also. The rest of the time the system functions normaly. Is there a problem with the remote or with my car? If it is the remote then I will just buy a new one from keylessrides.com. Is there anyway to determine the problem?

Do you have 2 remotes? If so, put that one away and use the other one for a while and see if the problem persists. Not a very technical way of troubleshooting, but it wont cost you a cent either.

It's not your remote. Unless there's dirt or moisture on the contacts of the key fob causing the immediate locking. Open the remote and clean it with alcohol (let it completely dry before putting the battery back in). That will remove that from the equation. It's most likely the relays in the car causing it. They are most likely in the certain condition(s) for it to act up since it's only intermitten. Don't buy another remote, yours is fine. A low battery can cause this too (car battery), at least in my experience with mine.

Where are the relays located and how can I check them?
