I need help badly
I am basically lacking vehicle basics when it comes to small repairs. I need advice.
I have a 1998 V6 Dodge Avenger and I need to change a few lights on it but I don't know how to access certain ones. I need to change the license plate lights on the rear but I don't know how to do it. I try to reach in with a screw driver but the bumper blocks my screw driver from getting a good hold to turn the screws that hold the light. I also have a light that went out that illuminates the overdrive button on the dash. The rest of the dash is ok but that light seemed to go out. The car switches between overdrive on and off as normal but the light on the panel does not light up.
Also I have another question regarding changing gears. This is an automatic and I noticed recently that if I am on drive and push the stick on accident it will shift to neutral. Is this normal??? I really would appreciate anyone's input on this since I just simply don't know how to do the changes to get my car back up to a good running condition.

Is there a light for the overdirve? Ive never noticed one.....
You can always knock an automatic into nuetral, it is somewhat of a safety feature or DOT Standard for manufacturing that is adhered to.....I dont know of any car that doesnt do that...Now...applying the brakes before shifting into drive is required---unless your shift lock has been tampered with like on my other car LOL
The dashlights youll have to remove the guage cluster for....let me go and take a look at the bumper brb

I have a 97 es and it looks to me like youd just stick a regular screwdriver up in there and undo it...........be glad youre not like me-- I have to figure out why I have no interior lights when my headlights are on..among other things LOL
