Wash it, it will get dirty after awhile though. Degrease it and call it a day
Do you mean the upper half of the motor? The block is the bottom half.

Lol, no worries Joe. The time shows 6pm for me, since I'm in Hawaii, lol, kidding bro, I see that you're central time. That's 5 hours ahead of me...bro, that's only 11pm, wuss![sm=escape.gif]
Yeah, just use degreaser and wash it down with a hose or you can use degreaser and wipe it down. It sounds like you need to hose it though. Just cover all the pertinent electrical items with a plastic bag before washing it and I always recommend letting it sit for a bit before starting it up, just as a precaution.
I like Simple Green btw, not too potent but works all the same and it's pet/child friendly, in other words, it's biodegradable...perfect for me since I have both, lol.

at work we use red stuff brand degreaser and it did an awesome job cleaning it but it still looks bad. would it be safe to grind down the bumps?

What bumps? Do you mean the raised surfaces on the valve cover? I wouldn't, I believe it's stamped or pressed...whatever it's called. I might be wrong in memory, but I think I remember seeing where it was raised on the underside too.
You can also take them off and repaint it with high temp paint.....after you prep it of course

Oh, yes, you can smooth out the plenum to the point where it's polished....that is A LOT of work though. You can sandblast or beadblast it too.
I'm still not sure what you mean by "the bumps". If you're thinking of sanding down the runners, that's where you see 6 tubes that run together, then no. You can fill in the gaps to smooth out the plenum though. Other than that, I have no idea about the "bumps", lol.

I had my plenum and valve cover powder coated in silver and Mopar Blue w/ Mopar logo on the plenum.
