rear wheel drive
yeah so one night, me and my friend were talking about engine swap choices for a jeep cherokee...we made a joke about putting a s2000 engine in it...then come today...im putting a cone filter on (to test a theory of, will intake air temp get to high) i look at my engine bay, think of silvercoupes AWD conversion...and then think...it would be possible (with a lot of fabrication) to make an avenger RWD...like, take the rear suspension and drive train components from a GSX (or w/e a AWD eclipse is) and put a longitudenal engine in it...now i was thinking about doing it with a s2k engine and tranny...but i was wondering it dodge makes any longitudinal engines that could quite possibly work...this definately isnt gonna happen for about 2 to 3 years..but just a wierd idea that would make a unique avenger...i mean, how many are RWD?
Someone is doing it right now....well, not an S2k motor but a V8. It's all possible, just takes imagination, skill, patience, and money...or four friends with one of each, lol.
a guy i work with used to be a professional race car builder. his last car built was a 98 avenger with a 500 or so ci chevy motor. he had the rear end tubbed, one piece front fiberglass end. fiberglass doors, the whole bit. it ran 8.19's in the 1/4. i thought it was pretty bad a**. he's tryin to get me to put a 383 stroker in mine now. He wants to run it at monster mopar in stl. i laughed very very hard.
...as long as you can still use it as a daily driver, why not?
It's nothing new really, we have a guy in here that puts V8s into Shelby Chargers with rear wheel drive. There's another guy in who is doing it with his 95-96 Avenger...a V8 RWD. It's definitely not a drop in swap being that the entire suspension has to be redone, not to mention the electronics.

Lol, not to pick on you TS, but 3.0L are swapped into our engine bays now, so no need to swap in a 2.7 and a minivans 3.8 is too tall.
