i have a sound like a whistle coming from the firewall every once in a while during take-off. i can only hear it in first gear, then the fart pipe is to loud. could this be a vacuum leak? it doesn't always happen so that takes out the windshield, right? thanks alot

 

Try revving the motor while in park and see if you can simulate the noise. There's a pulley on the throttle body that is connected to the gas pedal so that you don't have to sit in the car to rev it up. Rotate that pulley and tell us what you find out.
