timing belt
so the local mechanic wants me to dish out 473 to have the timing belt changed......is this worth it or can i do it myself.....what tools do i need to change it and how do you go by it......also im guessing i may as well change the water pump while im down there right....thanks all.....jordan
I had mine done for 200 under the table and then about another 250 in parts. Do everything while your in there.. water pump, tentioners/pullys. Its a really hard project do to if you don't have a lift. They had to drop the motor out, take off the inside fender, take off the valve cover. I have the i4.
in my opinion thats better to have some one else do. Belts are easy, but that water pump sucks.

I agree with Cass.
I would also find a non-local garage if you can or just another shop and get a quote from them too. It's not too difficult for a DIY project but I would leave the headache to the professionals with that motor
