Default tranny fluid change question 2.5L ES

Has anyone just unhooked the fluid line going to the cooler to drain their fluids? I have to do one tonight and Im not to excited about it.........
I was hoping it was like my wifes taurus and I could pull the line off and put it in the drain instead of dropping the pan...WOO HOO FUN!!!!!

Taking out the pan is better IMO, because you can check the magnet at the same time.

..and these trannys do make a lot of heat, so using something other than Mopar ATF+3, you may be doing this again in another year.

That is the fluid Im using man, I did pull the cooler line and is was of course the tranny fluid......so I am going to run it out of there first and THEN drop the pan. Im thinking that the first time I changed the fluid I just didnt get everything which caused the problem. I only did the tranny fluid like 6 months ago y'know? I hope that is all it is.

That's probably what's happening then, because unless the tranny is flushed (where it's hooked up to a machine that remove the old and puts in the new), there's still residual in there and it's contaminating it.
