Default Idle Air Control Issue

I am new to these so here goes. I have a 97 Dodge Avenger ES, 2.5L V6. Long story short... Battery was dead because of lights left on. While jumping it, something fried out because the security started going haywire. Horn was a constant honk, wipers turned on and wouldn't turn off, radio was dead and heater and A/C fan was dead.

The alternator was also fried, needed and got a new one, and battery is now fine. Turned out the radio and fan were fuse issues. The main problem then was I had no idle at all. It would start, but wouldn't stay going, since it couldn't idle. Check engine light was on because of the idle air control. Got a new part, and now it is idling high.

Right after putting it in, it idles at around 3000rpm. After resetting the battery, it will idle at around 1200rpm right after starting. After driving it for a while, it will idle between 1500-2000rpm. Dealer said all the connections were good, so the part must be bad. Got a second part, same exact thing happened.

Some weird things about the part. Original had a black tip on it, and the "shaft" to tip length is about 1". First new part had a silver tip on it, and length of about 1/2". Second new part had a black tip and length of about 1/2". Does the part shoot out when it goes bad like the turkey's done? The next thing the dealer would want to check is the computer itself. Don't really want to keep trying this and trying that to see if something works and spend a fortune. Can anyone help me please, I can't be the first to ever have this problem.

Also, my check engine light was previously on for a Leakage Detection Pump code. Don't think it would be related, but thought I better throw that out there too. Thanks in advance for any help.
