96 avenger wont start
i've been having problems with my 96 avenger with the 2.5 v6 for months now. the problem is that it will start up and run fine and then all of a sudden it just wont start. then a while later it will start again. so far i have had a distrubitor put on along with a new fuel pump and fuel filter. the car is currently sitting and wont start. it has spark at the spark plugs and if you spray starting fluid(ether) into the throttle body it will start up and run on that. so is their anything besides the fuel pump that could just be cutting out the fuel?
thanks for any help since no shop around here can find the problem.

Have someone turn the ignition to the ON position, with the hood open, put a finger on each of the first two relays and feel for the "click". The ASD controls the ECU power and the second one is the fuel relay. Let me know where you stand after that.
i'll do that tomorrow and let you know. my avenger has three relays so in order from left to right it should be the fuel pump relay, asd, eatx. correct? i know that some shop replaced the middle one(asd) while i've been having problems because the new relay doesn't have the mounting braket on it. where's the best place to get new ones at?
Yup, here's some more info on those relays too.

I had the same problem with my '95. It ended up being the Cam sensor, wich is either integrated or part of the Distributor, I didnt tear it apart to see. A new distributor comes with one, and a hefty price tag ($1,250). A used or reman. one usually is around ($300.00)
Advance Auto does sell the Crank and Cam sensors for around $100.00 each, but I dont know how hard they are to change. Hope this helps
