Default burning oil...

title says it all. just noticed it on tuesday i think. sitting in a parking lot with my engine running for heat while waiting on a friend - repositioned myself and hit the gas pedal and revved, big puff of blue smoke blows past my car. rev it again to see if it happens again...nothing. so i wait another few minutes and rev again, sure enough - blue smoke.

what are the possible causes of something like this? can't be a bad ring or something cause then the smoke would be constant, right? kinda like it builds up at idle and then clears it out in a matter of seconds after accellerating. blah.

You know my venger did this to me around when i first bought her. I ran her hard and did a nice tune up new pcv valve and used the good ol seafoam on here she dont smoke any more. and it only would do it if i would sit at idle for a min or two then take off. it dont even hesitate to do it now !!! Is your venger current with a tune up and oil change?? have you used seafoam or the other one "beleave it is mmc or something"

Oil has two places to get into the combustion chamber, through the rings or through the valve guides. From your description, it sounds like valve guides.

makes sense. i just had my oil changed though. level is a little too high, which would make sense...considering it has nowhere else to go. dad won't let me change it myself as he's afraid of using jackstands/etc...as if it fell there isn't enough room under there for my body. i trust jackstands...

but anyways...had to take it to some car shop place to have it done. checked oil level today as i was already out there workin on her and it was a little bit over the maximum level. probably about 1/8th of an inch or so. could be the problem? if so...nothing really i can do about it except change the oil again?
