Ok so the ticking noise post got me wanting to post a question. Wow thats great grammar for a opener, but anyhow, I have a 98 Avenger with the 2.5L V6 and whenever i start my car when its fairly chilly (40 degrees or less) i hear a loud roar coming from the engine bay. Now the trick is, when the car warms up the roar goes away, usually when i remote start it its loud then 10-15 mins later it is quiet and purrs nicely. Any ideas? i have heard that maybe the donut gasket between the head and the exhaust manifold could be going bad and that when the engine warms up it just expands and reseals it, but could it be anythingelse? and if it is the gasket, how difficult do you think this would be to change? I'm pretty good with most things but should i take it to a muffler shop? Any help is appreciated!
