Weird noise, driver side, front
Hey,
OK, I have that weird noise coming from the frontdriver side area. Everytime I make a left turn on low speed, or go over a bump, I can here it (squeaky noise, like something needs some oil!) Took it to the dealer to get it checked on recall, they did not find anything, but charged me for susp. check-up. So if you guys have any ideas! Ohh and what is the normal IDLE rmp for V6 venge?
Thanks

precisely my problem.....a squeaky sumtimes light grinding sound when turning the wheel n squeaky when going over bumps on my driver side....dealer claims the ball joints have already been replaced back in 01 .....i havent had the time 2 look under the car yet but i kno freakin ball joints just dont fail every 5 yrs.......
There's a few other balljoints in our suspension though. Grinding while turning...hmmm, rusted brake rotors, wheel bearing (but that would grind going straight too), depending on if you hear the grinding only for a second or two and not throughout the entire turn...it could be any one of the balljoints, CV joints could be bad, just to name some possibilities.
Squeeking could be from any moving part of the suspension to include swaybar mounts.

You know.. i have had the same exact problem.. except mine only does it whenever it is really cold out.. when it is above freezing it doesn't ever do it and now it has just stopped completely.. so i really have no idea..

When the metal compresses, it leaves a gap around it and the housing that it is supposed to be seated against and when you turn, hit a bump, or just bounce the car up and down, it causes the balljoint to knock around or even just creak.
It all make sense! I mean, it is weird thou! It is freaking cold outside and I do not hear the noise right now and it is about 15 dergrees outside! So I do not know! As soon as it gets a little warmer will have to check it out, if not too late!
I have the same problem as well. I keep hearing the noise when I turn the steering wheel or hit bumps.
Maybe it is the cold weather.

i got a 98 dodge avenger and i also have that same noise in my front end of the car, they guy i bought it off is a mechanic and the car has never been driven in winter so he said that its cuz its never been driven in winter, so i parked it for the rest of the winter last october....i am from canada so winters are hard on vehicles...
it's the classic symptom of a wheel bearing. it won't show itself on the straightaway until it gets much worse. this is the early stage. i have replaced five of them thus far. easy enough to check. jack her up and see if the wheel moves independently of the suspension.
I agree with MoPaul.
Grab the wheel at the 12 and 6 oclock locations and try to shake it. The 9 and 3 may indicate loose tie rods and/or wheel bearing, but the 12&6 is independent from everything else.
