Persistent Oil Leak
I searched the forum back to 10/06 and didn't find any relevant posts. Here's the problem:
1995 Avenger, 110,000 miles, garage kept. Had persistent small oil leak and car was stuttering no matter what gear, weather, speed, etc. Bottom of plug holes were full of oil around wires. Mechanic (who I haven't used often, but seems to be pretty knowledgeable and honest) replaced valve cover gasket. Still had the leak. He then replaced rear seal (?) I think and car is still leaking. Brought it back and he checked valve cover gasket and it's now leaking a teaspoon a day toward front of car, in line with axle, toward driver's side. I'm stumped. Mechanic claims he "straight-edged" the valve covers, etc. Can anyone offer ideas?

Have you checked around your oil filter? just a thought there or what about your oil pressure sender unit? i know mine was leaking about a quart every 1000 miles and thats what it was it had broken open and was driping out. have you checked the oil pan is it coming from around there at all?

Sounds like the mechanic didn't change out the spark plug seals. They keep the spark plug tube sealed from the oil splashing around the valve cover...obviously, lol. That's the only way oil can get into the spark plug tubes.
Oh yeah, the sputtering and stuttering is because the spark(s) is/are arcing onto the tube(s) because of the fluid that's in them. Those tubes are supposed to be fluid free so that the spark goes to the plug tips and not the tubes (path of least resistance).
