lighting problems
i have a problem with my 99 and it sucks beacuse every time i open my door the lights dont come on so if its dark out i cant see anything but when i lock my car with the stock wireless key enrty the light blink to indicate that the car is locked im confusedoh and its (any of the doors)also my reverse lights dont come on either when i shift into reverseso if anyone knows how to fix this please tell me how
the door switches seem to go rather often in these. poor design. i have replaced three and need to replace one more as we speak. have you checked the switches with any kind of continuity check?
have you checked the bulbs for the backing lights? if they are not blown, then i have not run into that one, sorry. could be a bad switch, but i don't know off-hand where that is. will check, but i believe the two problems to be unrelated.

hmmmmm i will check them for current that might be a problem im not sure but sometimes the door light comes on but thats like once a year lol also i have checked the light bulbs for the reverse lights they are not bad and they did work at one point i think yeah hey if you find anything post it please thanks alot mopaul
Hey 99GreenAvenger, I'm going to have to ask you to use punctuations bud. It's hard to keep up with you and your thoughts without them.
The door light issue is a common problem, like MoPaul stated, it also happens to other cars too. You can take the door switches out and spray WD-40 down the opening. Once you get the oil down the opening, open and close the switch a billion times...no not really, just a lot, lol. These parts get very dirty and most of the time, the contacts just need to be cleaned. I've still got the original switches and every year, I remove and spray them down.
For the reverse lights, all you have to do is remove the bulbs and look at them. Are you saying that the wire that goes from one side to the other is still in place? Or that the bulb doesn't have some soot in it?
This is where you do a continuity check and I advise getting a Haynes or Chilton's manual for it.
