Default It dies!

Have a 99 Dodge Avenger Sport - I recently changed the battery. On occasion while driving the car will just die. We are going to change to positive battery cable - Hope that will fix it. Any other suggestions? This thing is starting to make me crazy - of course it has over 100K miles. I just don't want to go through the whole distributor coil pack type trouble again.

Any help appreciated

if it dies in the middle of driving its not your battery.

Does it want to keep running while it's dying or does it just die? So, you have changed the distributor already? If so, that means that you've had a similar issue to this already and you most likely have to change the CPS just below the distributor too.
Another thing is the relay on the firewall. The ASD relay may be going bad. One thing we can use from you though is more detail in the "dying" of your car while driving. Such as, does it stutter, bog, feel like you hit a brick wall?

Recently the battery went dead! Changed the battery and the guy who usually works on the avenger said I definately needed to change the battery cable. It hasn't died since I changed the cable(yesterday - have only drivin it once since), but before I would be driving all of a sudden the engine light would come on, no power steering, etc.and the car would just die - my stereo and everything was still on. Once I would get it to the side of the road I couldn't get it to start again. It would try to start but just not turn over - then all of a sudden (about 5 to 10 minutes) it will start again and be fine.
Recently the belt has been changed, tuned-up, new termostate, EGR valve. It ran great for a good 3 month - now this.

This maybe the season of the ASD relays. It seems to come in waves. Look in the sticky section. I have info on the ASD relays in there.

I am curious about this dying issue as well. My 98 will run great one day and the next day it wont start. Come back the next morning and it starts. Will always turn over, is getting spark, but wont start. You mention the sticky section regarding the relay, where is this section. Thanks.
