Default Creek Climbing!

So today I took my dakota for its first taste of actual 4x4ing with me behind the wheel.

Fyi got new tires today so I was pretty eager to test them out. My trucks been clean for to long...

Took it up a mountain creek bed till I found the lake.
Trip was pretty fun, saw some deer plenty of bloody squirrels and alot of puddles
Heres some pics that I took.

The truck after the tire change...Still clean

In the creek

This was the easiest part lol.

Some more fun

PUDDLES

The Destination

Problem with climbing a mountain creekbed is the way back down is all down hill so my brakes got a little warm so I took a break for a few.

Annnnd finally back home with a nice n dirty truck

All and all this was a good day off from work I think.

i put myne in 4lo and lock it in first when comeing down something like. that way im not on the brakes much. and while it's costing the injectors close off so it saves fuel

For some reason 4lo won't work in my truck. I figure one of the 4x4 gears is stripped or the chain is loose. Just gotta take the time to go find out one of these days.

But leaving it in 1st was a good idea I was playing with it in the hills awhile ago. Thanks for the advice 9652dakota

And sorry siggie I looked into my engine compartment last night and it wasn't really worth a photo lol. Not much mud got in there from my creek climbing. It was all plastered on the side of the truck

cool. Can't do stuff like that here, forest service will climb up our butts with a vengeance. Private land is fine, for now.

How did you do with ground clearance?

Forestry is up on our butts to but they've made it so you can't make your own path so you gotta hit paths that have already been messed up. Considering the road turned into a creek bed I wasn't just gonna stop :P

I did alright for clearance. I knew I couldn't tackle some of the stuff on that path since I'm still stock height. There was one part where I had my suspension pretty much maxed going down one of dips that other 4x4ers had made.
