F150 my butt
My buddy has a 98 2wd F150 and his wouldn't move this much weight, my boss has an 97 F250 4wd triton and it doesn't pull as this weight as well.
2,000lb of pellets. I did have to look down to see the road though. I guess it was just about max as to what it will handle. Pulled it just fine, don't think I would want to take any fast corners. Another 500 pounds and the front wheels might have been off the ground.

yeah my friend has a 93 ford lightning and he always brags about how it blows the doors off my dakota... who needs speed when your hauling 1000lbs in the bed.
Working around a lot of trucks as far as I can tell the only real weak spot on the suspension is how the rear shocks mount, it just looks cheap. I bet if someone put some heavy duty mounts along with a new tube frame to mount it to plus some HD rear leafs this thing would haul a LOT, the only next thing would be the fact it is so light of a truck to be super heavy duty.
These little Dakotas really are a great pickup. It will be even better when I drop a 360 into it (eventually the motor has to go bad) and I will upgrade the tranny at the same time.
