Default Want to lift 91 Dakota SE 4x4

I know there is a FAQ set up for this question, and I have been poking around the forum for some answers to this, but I can't seem to find the exact answer I am looking for, so I'll just ask it.

I'm thinking of doing the torsion bar method, and was considering purchasing the lift keys on ebay, but I read on a forum that it would be pointless to do this unless my torsion bars were worn out.

I just got my entire front end rebuilt, we're talkin ball joints, cv axles, shocks etc, and I was wanting to move up to a 31x10.50x15. So, since I have new ball joints and the works, can I expect this stuff to last if I go messing with the torsion bars, because I have quite a bit invested in that, and I would hate to have to replace all those parts in the near future. The front end was fixed probably about 6 months ago, I keep it greased up out of paranoia lol.

Also, can I clear the GoodYear Authority 31x10.50 without doing a body lift?

thanks.

If your wanting lift then you can crank up your stock torsion bars or get the indexed keys for more lift. They will put more pressure on the ball joints but nothing to bad for new joints.

Well, I was thinking of doing the torsion bars only... but if the indexed keys will give me more height and reduce the chances of premature wear, I guess I will just get those first, then get the tires after.

Also, with indexed keys, will I get premature tire wear even if i get an alignment? and if so, how long can I expect before they completely wear out?

Also it appears a lot of the links in the FAQ/FAQ2 are broken, or outdated, so I may have more questions on other subjects.

reindexed keys DO NOT reduce the chances of premature wear. The only thing they do is allow more lift. Crank up your stock keys and see how high the truck gets. If you need more lift, then get new keys or modify the stock ones. Obviously, if the upper control arm is almost touching the bump stop, new keys would just be a waste of money.

Feel free to ask any questions that aren't in the FAQ. many of the links are 5+ years old and the sites the info was on went down. It may take a few days for someone who knows to respond, but some people on this forum are practically a walking encyclopedia on these trucks.
