Default 2nd Gen wheels on my 1st

This is probably the thousandth time someone has asked this but what other wheels can I put on my 96 Dakota? I came across this thread a while ago of a light blue Dakota that looked like mine but had rims from a 2nd Gen Dakota/Durango. There was also another thread of an old magazine spread with a 1st Gen Dakota that had been modified and had similar rims. Got lost down a rabbit whole in the forum and cant seem to find them again, does any of this ring a bell with anyone that can redirect me back there? Not a big fan of aftermarket crap so i like the idea that i might be able to interchange my wheels with other Dodge models and generations. What sizes fit best and where are the best places to look to get them?

Anything up through 2004 should work. My particular favorite is the six spoke from 2003-04 but any of the Dak 6 lug wheels will fit, 1991-2004.

I had the 16" 6 spoke wheels on mine, you can see them on the green truck in the signature pic. Fit like a glove. 15" second gen wheels take a little clearancing on the caliper banjo bolt.
Not much else uses this lug pattern.

The 2nd gen 16" wheels pictured on your truck are the 16x8" with 5 double spokes, the 16" version I'm talking about are the 16x7" with six solid spokes. They were only used for two years.
Here's a picture of what they look like although it's not painted silver. I am thinking about these in silver for mine.

I am mistaken, you are correct. Either way, the 16" second gen wheels fit without an issue. 15" second gen wheels have the interference.

i bought a 16 inch by 7 inch 2003 dodge dakota wheel to go on my 96 dakota absolutely will not fit because of the center bore of the wheel. my center bore on my 96 is 3 inches the center bore on a 2003 dakota wheel is 2 inches. never fit even though some one here said it would. who ever wrote that is nuts.
