Wipers Turn On Automatically
Hi all - I recently purchased an 1989 Dakota Sport and whenever I turn on the engine or turn the key to give it electricity the wipers wipe once and return to the original position. I have been tinkering with it for a while now and cant figure it out. For my own sanity, what is the wipers OFF position?
Thank you!
Thank you!
Wipers off position is down.
Do they keep sweeping every so often?
If not, it may be as simple as the interval wiper control unit (if you have interval wipers!) malfuctioning, and kicking one pulse when the motor starts.
For non-interval, the positions are off/low/high; for interval, it's off/long to short delay/low/high. (The long delay to short delay has like five positions, but not sure how many, not having counted them recently ... )
I'd also suggest obtaining a copy of the factory service manual for your Dakota (HINT: Is it a Chilton Dakota or a Haynes Dakota? No?) from eBay used in paper, or from the reproducer for FCA, Bishko Books ( autobooksbishko.com ) used on disc or new in paper.
