Default 92 Dakota New Water Pump Leaking at bolt

Hello Everyone.

I'm new to the board. A lot of good information here. I have a question. I just replaced the water pump on my 3.9l. All went well except I have one bolt leaking a steady drip of water. I installed the bolts with some liquid teflon on the threads. I have taken this bolt out cleaned it, dried it and applied a new coat of liquid teflon and it still leaks. I had a friend that told me that maybe some of the long bolts were different lengths. And maybe that bolt is bottoming out before it gets tight. I had 4 long bolts and 3 short bolts. I think they were the same lengths. But just looking for some help stopping the leak. Any advice? Thank you.

Drain some coolant out passed the bolt head, dab some RTV on the bolt head screw it in LIGHTLY wait for it to dry then tighten it up the rest of the way and add coolant, That should fix it

sounds like you got the bolts mixed up. use some high temp sealant on the bolts, the same as you put on with the gasket[/align]
