1994 Dakota Gas problems....
This is my friends truck. It's a 1994 Dakota 3.9 with 274,000 miles on it. he got it a year ago with 212,000 (he drive 100 miles a day round trip for work and it always going to the U.P. on weekends) The gas gauge when its full goes to 1/4 tank and when empty goes to 1/8 tank. The gas light still works and when it come on there is about 15 miles left till it runs out. Is the sending unit built into the pump or is it separate? and second, when you pump gas into the truck you have to go slow or else it will click off... can't even use the first notch on the pump to fill it it self... its very slow filling.... any ideas? and to fix any of this is it easier to pull the box or drop the tank.... on s-10's i always pull the box off....
Thanks
Thanks
I always find it easier to drop the tank. but alot of people pull the bed. if you do drop the tank, I would buy some new straps for it. I dropped mine and used the same straps, then about amonth later a strap decided to give out and dropped my tank while I was going down the highway.
sending unit is attached to the pump but it can be removed and replaced. I would replace the pump also while you are there. Don't know about the filling with gas issue does not sound normal. sounds like there is a obstruction like bend in hose??????????
