so i took my 94 dakota in for a oil change at my work the other day and nicely discovered that my pan was stripped so i resorted to a self tapping one for the time being now im considering my options on a more long term fix im loooking for options i was thinking about retaping to a bigger size i want to do this with the pan still on so is this a realistic option will grease on the tap a magnet after and running oil through after be enough to get rid of all the little shavings? or am i just paraoid

 

If you have a welder or know someone that has one, just welda new bung on top of the old one.
