Default oil pressure

When i got my truck i was really concerned about the low oil pressure but after reading some of the postings from other dakota owners the problem doesnt seem that big anymore but it might still be a problem.
My oil pressure goes down everytime i come to a full stop, problem is that it never goes up anymore than the required minimum according to my gauge. Is always just at that minimum border line. I used some lucas and it seems to have helped a bit. Now the gause doesnt go as far down as before.
will going synthetic be a good choice/option?
As far as I know im still running the original engine and is at 240K miles. Im third owner and as far as i know neither one has done any engine swaps in this thing.

I had a simular problem but my oil pessure would go from directly in the middle and drop while running at a constant RPM then rise again. I changed the oil pressure sending unit and now it is always a steady reading. The sending unit cost me $12.00 and a 1-1/6deep socket was needed to change it.
