Default Turn signal problem

I have 1 '92 3.9L V6 Dakota. The other day my turn signals died on me. The fuse is fine. Normally, I think, if the flasher relay goes out, the blinker on the instrument panel will come on but not blink. It doesn't come one at all, and the turn signals definitely are not working. I pulled out the relay and used the fuse tester on it, and the light on the tester came on, but I don't know if that accurrately tests a relay or not.

On a side note, my fuel gauge went haywire recently (bouncing back and forth, dropping all the way past empty, etc), and I could swear I saw out of the corner of my eye my tach jump from zero up to about 2000 while driving down the interstate.

I'm thinking my cluster is going bad, but if the cluster was going bad, I wouldn't think it would affect the actual turn signals.

Any suggestions?

On the turn signals - Do your brake lights work as well? If not, the turn signal switch (multi-function switch) could be bad. Or, if you have tilt steering, the wires could be pinched somewhere along the bottom side of the column.

The brake lights work. I have tilt steering, but I've never adjusted it in the four years I have driven the truck.
