Loss of Power
I have a 94 Dakota 3.9 2wd. Changed out water pump and timing chain. Put everything back together, truck starts right up runs and idles like a dream. Only thing is now it feels like its lost about 20 hp. It was certainly no dragster before the change, but now the engine bogs on full throttle andwhen going into second gear. I am certain that I aligned the camshaft spocket up with the crank sprocket correctly (aligned the marks stamped on both gears). I have also attempted rotated the distributor with no change one way or the other. I have disconnected the battery for 15 min. once to clear the computer. I have had no check engine lights to come on at any time during any of this. Truck actually ran better with the oldchain although it was about to break.Any ideas????
my 89 dodge was doing the bog down thing to me and i never figured it out and gave up but know im back working on it so if u figure that out let me know.mine started only going about 45 mph but im replacing the tbi but well see i guess
I have an 89 dakota and i had a recent major loss of power, did a bunch of stuff to it and the only thing that helped was drilling into the cat converter, the ceramic stuff or watever it is was powder in it, i took a drill and made a few holes, also used the bit to suck the powder out, its a little louder but a definate power increase.
I have an 1988 TBFI so fuel isn't delivered the same way, but I lost power to 3 cylinders. At an idle it ran fine, but under a load it was crapy. Finally tracked it down to a faulty fuel injector. Has happened twice in 6 months. Maybe you can check the injectors.
i have a 94 dakota with a 3.9 in it and mine also bogs down , in park or neutral it is fine and revs up like normal but when going into second it bogs down like crazy (and the pedal is down as far as it will go) i have replacer my plugs , muffler, distributar cab and rotor and it is getting better i think it is either the feul filter or the o2 senser .............check ur feul filter and o2 senser and see what happens
