disc brake sticks
1990 dakota 2wd has a right front brake that intermittently sticks on. I assume the piston is not sliding as smooth as it should. Is the rubber seal around the piston removable in order to clean and lube the piston? Any other causes or easy fixes I am missing? Thanx.

RE: disc brake sticks
dont mess with rebuilding it if its the caliper, the whole caliper is about 30 dollars, its cheap and brakes are important. it could be the shoe, the clips on my 89 are odd and a pain to put on and get them to slide properly, it took a little grinding to get the aftermarket shoe to work properly

RE: disc brake sticks
Ditto Fishlessman, same thing with my 90 last year. I thought I would save and did the rebuilding kit worked for about a month. I ended up replacing both calipers. Mine came with new pads.

RE: disc brake sticks
Guess I'll replace the caliper. If the rotor needs to be machined/replaced, is it OK to just do the one that got hot? The left one is fine. Thanx for the knowledge.

RE: disc brake sticks
My right one went first 6 mos later the left. I did them 1 at a time but if I were to do it again I would just do both and be done with it.
