Default overheat with AC on

Recently my truck 1996 Dodge Dakota V8 5.2L overheated. So I replaced the serpentine belt, 180 t-stat, radiator housing, the 2 screws for the housing, upper and lower radiator hose, radiator cap, flush coolant and bleed coolant. The truck runs fine and everything. However, as soon as I turn the Air Conditioner is on and 10-15 minutues later the temp goes to HOT and I once the engine is off coolant comes out from the coolant reservoir.

The manual say that when the engine is cool, but just trying to spin the fan, if there is some resistant then the fan clutch is good. There is no leak from the radiator at all. The waterpump looks good. No leak or funny noise at all. Only leak is when AC is turn on and coolant comes out from the resevior.

Any adice or help is appreciated.
thanks,
Sean

if it heats going down the road at constant hiway speed ,the radiator is plugged,if it only heats during town driving then the fan cluch is bad
this is presuming your rad cap is good

rhad,
going at constant is fine and same as town driving. But when I turn the AC on then it start to get HOT and when I park and turn off the engine, coolant comes out from the reservoir.

Default RE: overheat with AC on

hi,
I just wanted to update on with the resolution:
It was a radiator. I replace the radiator and now it doesn't overheat with the AC on anymore. I guess the radiator was plugged. thanks to the forum with so much information. In the process, I replace the transmission line as well. I went to this place called the "hose-man" to have to customize the new transmisionoil lineson the passenger side using the old check valve and new hose on driver side. Its pretty cool for $20 bucks. On the driver transmission line, i had to cut off the tube and get a compression fitting and a barb connector to put the new line in and double clamping it. Better then buying a new line all around for $80 at the dealer.

So for those who have a leaking transmission line, this could help you save some money. Probably can do it elsewhere cheaper but i was in a rush, just make sure you have them use the old part because of the check valve. So I was told by the "hose-man" staff.

take care,
Sean
