HELP???!!!
umm last night i was coming home and caught a random object off the highway and dented my exhaust and riped a tranny cooling line off i think it was the sending line not the retrn but anyways 1 i need to find the little C pin thing any clue?? used papper clip for temp fix to get home . . . .then my friend while i was gone refilled tthe tranny with fluid and i noticed on way home it kept slipping . . he refilled it with dextron-mercron fluid . . . and i drove it about 10-15 miles . . . . under the FAQ/s it says NEVER use what is this gonna do to my tranny and what should i do to correct it please
no he filled it properly im just scared it will mess up band's ect or seals . . . or do you think if i let it just set till friday and then drain and flush it and use the right stuff in it again will it be ok ??
naa tranny brand new 10k miles on it still under warnt lol just the debre riped the line off cuz even with the dextron it still shifts through all gears just slips a little . . .btw nice truck almost matches mine lol . . .
might have to go to dealer or junk yard for clip thing. a good piece of wire or zip tie will work just as well.
since fluid is stored in pan, vb, torque converter, lines, and cooler, its impossible to drain it all. dropping pan only gets about half of it out.
you could take it to a transmission shop/service place for a full flush.
or you could change it this week, and then drive it a little and change it again in a couple of days.
or if you can stand the down time, remove pan and filter and drain. take battery cable loose to disable truck - so you don't forget and take off somewhere.. loosely put pan back on. remove trans cooler lines at a low points and let then drain. let truck sit for about 24 hrs and a lot of fluid will drain back into the pan. that doesn't get it all, but a lot of it.
