Im glad yours came out good. I only cut off the fan cluch nut. I didnt want to have my pully come off at freeway speedsat mid to high rpms and leave me straded in the middle of no where. I want my truck to be SAFE. The waterpump was not damaged. Isaid "you dont have to do what I did".The fan cluch is only $20 new. If you install the fans correctly you dont need the cluch anymore, So it will be trash anyways. If you save it, it needs to be properly postioned to avoid damage. So cuting the nut off is cheep insurance. By the way I havnt taken off the fan cluch in over 7 years, so I dont remember small details about thethreaddirection of the fan cluch nut. That is why I said "I think"! So you say Im hacking up my truck, Im just want to be the safest I can be. And by the way I am a professional. I am ASE certified mecanic. So go ahead and test your way for us. Because Im not going to.

I agree with crazy. If your not going to be using the fan clutch anymore what does it hurt to cut the nut off to make sure it stays. i know i turn my engine up pretty high, so bad things would happen if it came off. But you do work for the chevy place so explains alot!

First off Crazy I apologize for sounding like I'm pissed at you. I was just providing helpful information to others who wanna perform the same mod. My bad.

Secondly, Bad96... Who the hell pulled your string? It's fine that you agree with crazy. And you have the right to tell everyone in the world that. Working for Chevrolet don't matter. What happened did you see that and go away from the message I posted? I consulted a shop forman at a Dodge Dealership and we referenced a technical manual for the 3.9L engine. All specs and tolerances for the 3.9L are in this manual. It's like 4" thick. So you should read an ENTIRE post before spout crap off. P.S. Iwork for Chevrolet and am an assistant store manager at AutoZone. I'm blue oval parts certified from ford and Parts master Certified from ford and Parts Master Certified from ford and professional Certified from Chevy and Master Parts Certified from Chevy and ASE Parts Certified. So I believe the fact I work for chevy explains NOTHING. Our washrack guys work at chevy too but don't know crap about what we talk about here to help people with their problems.

Thanks for apologizing. I think Bad96_3.9said that because we all hear about chevy guys dont know much. I personally have seen alot of chevy guys who realy dont anythingwhen they claim to know it all. But there is those types of guys everywhere. He was just makeing a simple joke. So lets stop this hate posts before they all get to far. We are better than that!

I agree...Thanks for the wakeup call! We don't wanna turn into a chevy forum full of little girls fighting and scratching and pulling hair.

I've gotta surprise for them by the way. I've been building a 305 for about three months now and I'm gonna put it in my dakota. It's out of a 89 camaro and already had a supercharger on it! I'm gonna put on my back glass "Eacting chevys, ****tin Fords!"

my buddy wrecked his 89 camaro and totalled it. He bought it from the insurance company to part it out b/c his suspension was brand new. Well when he decided he'd sold enough off it he was gonna haul it to the junk yard. I told him I'd take it to the junk yard in exchange for his engine. Done deal! Me and my dad are re gasket and sealing it first!!! Plus now it looks like I'd better hurry...my wife and I have decided to move to Texas near her parents and I really don't wanna transport a loose engine.
