Anybody have ideas of what this problem could be?
Here's the problem, when I go to start my truck in the morning, I turn the key and it's almost like the starter does not want to start? It's almost like if you were to just bump your key for a split second and not start it? Well it's does this at least once, sometimes twice and then fires up? Do you think my start solenoid is going bad? The solenoid is part of the starter on these correct? GEEEEZZZEEE MORE MONEY!!!!!!!!
Check out 1990 dakota starter problems we discussed it already. and yes the soilnoid is part of the starter.
sounds like the solinoid. you can take it apart and sand it and it will last a lil bit longer. thats what I did. it gave me acouple more months.
my 2 cents, its the starter itself or the battery. make sure battery connections are good and solonoid connections are good. if it still does the same thing your starter is drawing to many amps and its bad or the battery cannot supply enough amps at startup. it takes more amps to start to rotate the engine than to keep it rotating. turn your lights on at night, start the truck, the lights should dim but not go out. if they go out your battery is bad or the starter is drawing too many amps.
