I appreciate the responses. Gonna go ahead and replace the water pump and thermostat.

I replaced the water pump on my '93, 3.9, and now I think the bypass hose is leaking. I am a novice, and I was kind of in a pinch, but I didn't see any way to get to it other than to pull the pump off again, anyone know another way?

No need to drop the water pump to replace the by-pass hose...I replaced my intake gastkets a few weeks ago and slipped the by-pass hose on after I bolted up the water pump. You will probably just need to remove the accessory bracket to access the hose. You should also check the heater hose tube that sticks out of the water pump for rust....they are $27 at the dealer and $10 at most part stores

Thanks! I did just that. I tied the A/C unit (condenser/compressor, whatever) up and out of the way (that was the most difficult part) and from there on out it was a breeze! Runs beautifully, with no leaks. Thanks again for the tip.

I forgot to mention that there were two splits in the bypass hose causing all the trouble, replacing it was what sealed it up.
