Default catalytic converter

Hey guys I was just wondering about the cat converter.I have a 91 V8 318 4x4 dakota with 189000miles.Now forget about the emissions laws cause i live in Tennessee. If i were to cut it off and just run staight pipes from engine to flowmaster 40series would there be any noticable gains in horsepower. And also what would that do to the computer and is there a way to bypass any sensor problems that would trip it if the cat was gone.Ive heard that cats rob an engine of a lot of power but i dont know much about them.My cat conv is working fine by the way .

probably not much power just a little. but it would still be worth it. there are no sensors after the cat. so dont worry about the computer. I gutted my out. the sound did change though.

I am thinking of removing mine from my 90 V6. There is a 3/8" pipe that runs down and goes into the CAT. What do I do with it? Cut it off up stream? It is supplying air into the CAT.
