Default dies in cold weather after running a while

This is really weird, but I am at my wits end. When temperatures are over 50 degrees, my 96 Dakota 4X4 3.9 V6, five speedruns great. When it gets colder than 50 degrees, it will run for about 8-10 minutes, then stalls like it is running out of gas. It will sputter and eventually restart, but act like I have a couple of bad spark plugs. After running rough for about 10 minutes, it will smooth out, and start acting normal once again.
It only does this in cold weather- never in warm. I have changed the coolant temperature sensor.

I am frustrated enough that I am thinking about parting with my truck, and I like it in every other way (except the ABS/brake light also won't go off).

Any suggestions? It is almost dangerous to drive once the weather turns cold.

there was a post somewhere with the same issue...turned out to be a bad crankshaft sensor for him. They are about $40 if you shop around...I replaced mine last month (NAPA was the cheapest) when I rebuilt my engine - they are fairly easy to get to with the engine installed.

Where did you buy coolant temperature sensor. One time I changed mine and got the new one from lcl auto zone type parts house. About 3 weeks later my truck did the same as yours. Took it to the delar and it was the temp sensor. I suggest buying any sensors from the delar.

I changed the crankshaft position sensor CPS, and it instantly fixed it. It's running better than it has in a long time, now.
