First post. Sweet.
Anywho, I just purchased a 1989 Dakota from some dude in Washington. So far, the motor is running nicely. The starter, however, is toast. I just acquired a new starter. My options as of now are to wait until Friday for my mechanic to put it in, or, I can go in there and do it. I've never done a starter on a Dodge before and I'm wondering if theres an easier way to sneak in there and pull it out. I saw the method described in the Haynes manual. If anyone has any advice or recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated. As I learn more about this truck, I'll make contributions to the forum where I can. Thanks.

On my 93 I can tell you the 2wd was not to hard. But the 4wd was alittle harder to get to. Its not to bad. Maybe this site can help check it out. http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us...rInfoPages.htm
Its the Dakota Sport 4x4. The front differential is perfectly in my way. But, we got the starter out after a bit of hose and steering shaft manipulation. The new one took forever to put in, due to the inconveniently placed bolts and the front differential. We went to make the simple electrical connection and the smaller of the two copper pins broke clean off. I had it just tight enough to keep a solid connection. Now, its in need of replacement. Again. Gotta love vehicles, huh?
