This is another common problem in these trucks. Fuel line rubs and causes a leak. Some take longer than others to start. Sometimes, it is near the frame and not the firewall. Good luck.
My problem with these (I've owned 3) is the fuel line right at the fuel filter seems to crack and create a leak. But I guess with 15 and 16 year old trucks, that's to be expected
