Today when I was in class workin on my engine with another student.I needed to turn the engine upside down on the stand. So I grab the bottem of the block and start turning. What does my fellow classmate do to help? He grabs the oil dipstick tube and pulls on thinking by some chance that theoil tube is made of cast iron and completly breaks it off, with a piece of it still in the block.[:@]
So any idea's of how to get the small piece out of the block? And where can I get a new one kragen or dealer part? And if I got to go to the junk yard to get it how do i get it out without breaking it?
My engine builder did the same thing...I think he threaded a large lag screw into the broken piece and pulled it out. The dipstick tube for the 3.9 is abot $15 from the dealer.
I've seen this on many Pontiac motors. You may be able to 'push' it out with the pan off. Use a small hammer andsmall chisel but be careful not to damage the block.
sweeeet that be freakin ironic though I spend $1000 dollars and get my 318 fixed all up and thenwin a 360 it be like being pissed and happy at the same time. [:@][:'(]
