Default Idler arm

Anyone know any cool tricks to removing an idler arm? I've got the bolts for the frame out. I've also removed the cotter pin and the nut, however, the arm will not separate from the center link. Any ideas? Theres some WD40 soaking into it right now.

yea...your best bet would be some kind of rust remover like liquid wrench or PB Blaster. what you need is a separating fork. i cant remember the exact name but it looks like 2 fingers and is shaped like a wedge. im sure you know what im talking about. if you dont have one, try holding a hammer up against the back of the center link while hitting the front with another hammer. this should produce enough vibration to break it loose. youre going to have to beat on it a little bit but it will come loose.

Sweet. I've heard those referred to as pickle forks. I've been using a pry bar to try to work it loose. Its budged just a bit, so I think its going to work. I'm far too lazy to do this one again, so, my mechanic gets to play with it next time.
Thanks.

big f*****g hammer. bang on the outside of the link until it pops off. it worked for me and i changed the idler, pitman arm, and all the tie rods by just pounding them. it might take a while but it's cheap.
