Default V8 2WD Lift!!

Hey everybody i am brand new and i looked through the forums last night. I saw a few things about the 2wd lift but i just had some quick questions to help clerify.

I will be doing a leaf over on the back end. Do you need to re-weld the spindle on the top of the axle? And what do i need to look out for when i do that? I will be replacing the shocks and is that all i need to do in the back?

In the front i saw that someone suggested to do the spacers ontop of the spring and also on the bottom. Is that going to be enough to lvl the car out? I dont want a raked look at all and i would love it as level as possible. Also where can i find the spacers for the front.

Also on the front do you need to fabricate the control arms at all to make sure you dont throw the camber off? And is that all i need to do in the front?

I was also thinking about doing just a 1 inch body lift just for clearence on tires. Would that be too much and cause me to have to work on extending things? Thanks so much for you help and as much information on this will save me a lot of time and headache.

Im guessing when you say spindle you meen the spring perch. You will need a new one. I bought mine from a local sping shop for $15 each. You can get them from summitracing.com or jegs.com or even moparperformance.com set them in place and weld in later so you can set your pinion angle when its all on the ground. See the pic. I inculded I have done the spring over axle.
If you add larger springs or spacers Its easycheck outhttp://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=skuIt will be enogh if yougetone on top and bottom. That will be 2 in.As for the control arms you dont have to fabercate anything.
For a body lift I dont think they sell 1 in spacer kit. Only 2in. Trust me 2 in is not to big. For 2wd it is easy just cut and put in a spacer for the steering shaft and the kit comes with a spacer for the tranny shift bar. It is worth it. You will also have to redrill holes in the bumbers brackets to move them up. But that is still easy.

So for $150 you can get 4 in lift in one weekend.

Why on earth are you bothering to lift a 2wd?!?? Sounds like you should have bought a 4x4 to begin with...

When I had my 2wd I know I hated the lower trucklook. I belive no truck should ever be lowered. Sure some look good but most to me dont. So if he wants to lift his truck that does not meen he is trying to make it a 4wd. He just wants it to be how he wants it.

The big reason is for look of course. I got the dodge for 200.00 from an old guy who just kept it garaged. The second reason is because i still tow things and stock is just too low. It gives me something to do so thanks for the back up!!!
