Found a killer deal
A buddy of mine who hauls scrap called the other night and said he had a Dakota for parts and he would take scrap price for it.I went out to check the truck out and it was an 87 Dakota, short bed,4 wheel drive with V6 and 5 speed. It was full of garbage and the bed was full of old window air conditioners but it had aluminum wheels and a reciever hitch so I gave him $300 and he delivered it to my shop. When it got there we threw in a battery and it fired but wouldnt run more than a few seconds.I put some plugs in it and it started up and smoothed out now it idles and runs great.I took all the A/c units to scrap(probably get back half my money) and threw all the gaebage in the dumpster. We stuck it on a lift to check the brakes and running gear and we found that it had a 2 inch body lift and 2 tow hooks and the rear end has a posi. We washed it down and put on some Sherwin Williams camo job, traded the aluminum wheels for some stockers with 31's salvaged from my sisters Durango and I got myself a killer hunting truck for $300. Only thing it needs now is a muffler.I will try and post a couple of pictures tommorrow.[/align]
you dont NEED a muffler lol. but yea thats a pretty good deal. i got my 88 for 400$ and it was already in perfect running condition. i've never had a problem with it at all.
I got my 92 for $100, it needed a front rotor and brake pads were i got from murrays for $30
but then later on the radiator Popped, ($100) and then the water pump took a dump ($90) and then ever since knock on wood no probs!!
