I think most will fit in a open axle housing. I checked on a few and they all said they will fit on an open housing. So if you need more detail, find what you want and call the tech. support to check. Summitracing.com is a good place with great tech. support. Check out http://store.summitracing.com/partde...761+4294925134See the app. tab, it says it will fit a open housing!
Alterboy I have to ask, what isthe story about the pic of the car with the broken window. I have seen it on several of you posts! Just curious!

Dakata never used a 3rd member axle. In fact, no Chrysler has for almost 30 years (unless you count the little mitsi P/U's).

However, you will most certainly be changing your carrier (unless you usea cheezy locker or some other drop in weeny unit), as the carrier is the posi/ltd slip unit.

Your axle housing and axleswill remain. You can reuse your gears if you so choose.

This was a deer accidentI was in. I was driving to work around 5:30 in the winter so it wasdark. I just barely caught him coming out of the creek and onto the road. I had just enough time to close my eyes. Then SMACK i was eating glass. The wind was blowing till i slowed down. I had glass all over my eyes in my mouth everywhere. I managed to turn my car around and limp home being careful to not getmore glass in my eyes. I went back to get my truck and a buddy of mine were going back to pick it up and dress it but someoneelse got to it before we did. You could see the bloody drag marks and feet prints in the snow. That buck had a rack on him that made me cry I didn't get it. If you look close at the picture youwill see where one of hispoints pierced the window. If this wouldn't have happened I wouldn't have my second, 1st GEN. Ihad an 88 railroad dakota and now 96 slt
