According to their web site it looks like the shift kit is to smoth out shifts.
The reprogram kit alows you to shift it like it was a manaul tranny, with out distroying every thing. So basicly for racing aplications.
Below is what their web sites said about the kits.

Shift Kit: Separator Plate Included
Firmer Lockup-Reduces: OD Planet Failure-Soft
Shifts-Drainback-Lockup Slip/Burn
Vent/Side Seal Leak.
Has High Temp rings for heavy duty use.
HD & Perf Truck Reduces no shift complaint

Reprogram Kit: Separator Plate Included
Automatic Shift; Street or Full-race;
Holds 1st, 2nd and 3rd to any rpm;
Back shifts to 3rd, 2nd and 1st at any rpm.
Competition combination.

Im just tired of the long *** smooth shifting so i didn't know which one was actully better but since im not using the truck for racing the regular shift kit is my choice
