Default Name of the part in attached pic?

I need to know the name of the part (and if possible, the part number) for the part my dad's pointing to. He thinks he's going to need to replace it. He was pulling into my uncle's driveway when his truck over heated.

well im not sure since i dont know much about a dodge engine.... yet. but the 1st thing i would do if its overheating is check the antifreeze, look in the overflow tank and see if theres anything in there. if theres nothin in there then open the radiator cap and fill the radiator and then put some in the overflow tank.

We knew what it was for, we just didn't know what it was called. Thanks though, I'll let him know. He needs a hose of some kind too I think. I don't know what he's doing to be honest. I just posted the picture and told him I'd try and find out the part name. Again, thanks.

The EGR valve ties into the exhaust manifold. The valve in his picture is on a rubber line....looks like a heater control valve to me.

what year and engine? Mine dosen't have one of those. on my 3.9 That part goes into the intake. I guess it's like a blow by? I just replaced mine but it definately didn't look like that one.

If it were a diesel engine,I could see the need for a "blow by", but this is a gas engine. Look at the valve and you will see the vacuum line to the left side of the valve...the older heater control valves had a vacuum line on them that opened and closed the valve to regulate the water flowing into the heater core. The twoheater hoses runnearlyidenticalon later 3.9s...one to the top of the intake and one to the waterpump.
