A Free 360!!!
Im gonna be getting a free 360 engine out of a plymoth fury III from the early 70s, havn't gotten the year yet. Im getting it from my neghibor whose movin out and don't want it anymore. It don't run of corse but he said to he might have some tools and a rebuild kit to give mefor it to! I will just rebuild to a point and sell it I guess, unless I find a car to put it in. Don't know if I should try and get the tranny to but I will post some pics when I get them.
Errr I would if had not spent money on my 318 paid $600 to the machist the other day would the block bolt right up though and mounts would work? I don't know well see what happens
you cant beat that deal. and the motor mounts are different from the LA engines to the Magnums.
I got a 340 with a steel crank givin to me a while ago. but still never done anything with it yet. that would be a screamin motor if I ever do anything to it.

Another difference would be the lack of a roller cam. I used to be a pretty hardcore old-school kind of guy, but these days I'm inclined to say the shift to rollerizing and fuel injecting in the 90's was a very good thing. I'm even considering building a Megasquirt system for my Pontiac 455 when I get around to building it...
You know, I'm a young guy that thought carbs were awesome because of the things you could do to them with a screwdriver in your driveway...however, after going to school and working on cars for a few years, I would definitely have to agree with 95V8Dakota4X4 on this one. Fuel injection is the way to go. I can do more with my EASE system and my laptop than I could ever think of doing with a screwdriver.
Fox: I would hold on to that motor. Crazy has a very good point. If something ever happened to your motor, you could just put the fuel injection setup right on the 360. However, you would have the issues with the motor mounts, but they are fairly simple with a set of torches and a welder. Also, I am not sure on how it would bolt up to the trans. I would guess it would, but you need to ask someone that knows more than I do. I know a few things, but there are many people that know a whole lot more. (I'm also assuming the Magnum heads will bolt on to the LA motor???)
