You're looking less for high numbersthan for consistant numbers. It looks like you may have ring or valve sealing problems on #5, but it's not all that serious yet. It certainly wouldn't make your engine die.

update....

still experiencing problems. I think I found the dying and not starting problems. The coil was a little weak and the connections were loose and dirty. Fixed them but the vehicle seems to still be running rough. Smells rich. any ideas. I am thinking injectors. the fuel regulator was changed the map is OK, it's pulling good vacuum. O2 sensor recently changed... I am running out of ideas Is the injector the problem. Has anyone else had an injector problem with this engine.....

Thanks

What else could cause this to run rich than a slow acting injector???

I don't think I have ever heard of anyone with an injector problem on these trucks, but hey anything is possible andI couldn't say its not. Just an idea, whens the last time you changed your fuel filter? Good luck

How do you know if your map sensor is ok? Just wondering. Sounds a lot like what that would do with a rich condition or you might want to check your fuel pressure regulator.

One other thought. Is the ignition system in good shape.

I guess I just assumed the MAP Sensor was OK because it varied it's output in an apparent linear fashion as I varied the vacuum to it. I can't remember if it went from 5 to 0 or 0 to 5 when I went from 0inhg to 20 inhg. Is there another check I should do? is There a chart somewhere thatsays it should be 3.45v when it is at 10 inhg... If so that would be a more accurate check...

The Ignition system seems to be in good shape. the pickup was changed about 1 yr ago, the plug wires and cap/rotor are recent. The coil is new. The original coil didn't test to within manu spec. the only thing I am thinking about is going to the old style plug. It has Bosch Platinums in it. Not +2 or +4 the standard platinum.

I may change the fuel filter and the plugs just for good measure. even though this is driving me nuts not being able to figure out what it is, without throwing parts at it....

hmm, fuel filter possible, plugs again a possiblility, definitely sounds to be electrical, ever try to set the idle a little higher on the throttle body ?
